At Bowling Green Brandywine in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, we believe that addiction is a treatable disease. Our inpatient rehab program offers a variety of interventions, providing our clients with effective tools to build a solid foundation for long-lasting recovery.

Inpatient Treatment in Kennett Square

Bowling Green Brandywine, located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, provides inpatient rehab programs for adults age 18 and older who are struggling with substance use disorders and dual diagnosis concerns. Dual diagnosis occurs when clients are suffering from both addictions and mental health disorders.

Most people stay in our inpatient rehab program for 21-28 days; however, clients may remain in our care for longer or shorter periods of time depending on their needs.

All inpatient rehabilitation and dual diagnosis clients receive individualized treatment plans that outline what they can expect during their time in our program. These care plans may include a minimum of one individual therapy session each week, multiple group therapy sessions, and experiential therapies. We also provide family therapy sessions on an as-needed basis. Additionally, clients can receive medication management services and medication-assisted treatment.

  • Reiki

The experiential therapy sessions typically occur on a weekly basis during the psychoeducation group component of programming. On Fridays and Saturdays, clients also have two recreation periods during which they can decompress and enjoy activities outside of talk therapy.

Mural Arts Therapy Sessions

At our Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, inpatient rehab center, we have our clients participate in two mural projects, titled “Path to Recovery” and “Healing Horizons.”

The objectives of these projects include:

  • Encouraging clients to express their thoughts and emotions through art
  • Fostering a sense of community and support among group members
  • Exploring themes related to recovery and personal growth
  • Visualizing their aspirations for a brighter future

There are four parts included in these project sessions:

  • Discussion: Clients gather together and share their thoughts on the concept of recovery and what it means to them.
  • Individual reflection: Clients receive art journals and are given time to sketch or write about their own recovery journeys, challenges they are facing, and their aspirations. This allows them to collect their thoughts before contributing to the creation of the mural.
  • Mural creation: Clients are divided into smaller groups, and each group is assigned a specific section of the mural to work on. Using acrylic paints, they collaborate to depict their interpretations of recovery, hope, and resilience in their portion of the mural. The mural incorporates a variety of symbols, colors, and imagery that is chosen by the clients.
  • Group sharing and integration: Once the mural is complete, clients reconvene as a group to discuss their experiences and the symbolism behind their contributions. They also share how they connected with the mural’s themes and how the collaborative process affected them.

A follow-up discussion allows clients to talk about the therapeutic benefits of art as a means of processing their emotions and finding hope on their recovery journeys. They can reflect on the idea that, just like the mural, recovery is a collective effort in which everyone plays a unique and valuable role.

After the completion of the project, clients are encouraged to continue using their personalized art journals as tools for self-expression and reflection.

The completed mural remains on display at our rehab center as a symbol of their shared journey toward healing and transformation.

The mural arts program is designed to promote creativity, self-expression, and a sense of community among clients. The mural serves as a powerful representation of our clients’ collective pursuit of recovery and discovering a brighter future.

Family Therapy Options

At Bowling Green Brandywine in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, family therapy sessions are held on an as-needed basis. However, family members of our clients are encouraged to take part in the family program that is held every Sunday.

Each week, our clients’ family members attend an hourlong psychoeducational presentation that can help them gain an understanding of the disease of addiction and how they can best support their loved one throughout their healing process.

After the presentation, family members are given an hour to meet with their loved one and a counselor.
